Q:
Can things like stop signs and
directional arrows on a parking lot
be enforced by police? How about
persons parking in handicap parking
spaces without the proper license
plates?
A:
Stop signs and directional arrows on private parking lots are
not enforceable by police, Chief
of Police Nathan Gohlke reported.
However, if someone causes an
accident because they failed to obey
the signage on a private parking lot,
that information would be listed as
a contributing factor on an accident
report.
Handicap parking spaces, on
the other hand, are regulated by state
law and are therefore enforceable.
