On a recent Wednesday evening, Professor
Paul Lewis of the Boston
College English Department hosted the opening of his most recent
endeavor, an exhibition
at the Boston Public
Library and the Massachusetts Historical
Society entitled “Forgotten Chapters of Boston’s
Literary History” that
examines and puts forth
the “forgotten” elements
of Boston’s literary history.
Broken up into a series of chapters, the exhibit “explores stories
about Boston’s literary
history that have faded
from memory,” according to the exhibit’s website.
Specifically, Chapter
One focuses on the poet
Charles Sprague buried on Boston Common,
Chapter Two “considers
a problem faced by African American, women, and Irish authors,”
Chapter Three puts forth
