Sales Tax Election is Tuesday
Citizens to Keep Calhoun County Alive Backs Issue
Hoping to get the special
sales tax issue passed, a group
calling themselves Citizens to
Keep Calhoun County Alive has
sent out a mailing explaining
and encouraging voters to turn
out for Tuesday’s election.
The message state’s that
the sales tax is not a property
tax, nor does it apply to the
purchase of gasoline and only
affects what you spend inside
Calhoun County.
The card also lists a few
of the services supported
by the county including law
enforcement, the court center,
the nutrition centers, Veterans
Services and maintenance of
county buildings
to name a few.
The messages
also say that all
of the cities in
the surrounding
counties have
higher sales taxes than Calhoun
County.
