Jackson’s Attorney No Show;
Trial Set for Wednesday
As of press time, former
Hampton Police Chief Jeff
Jackson is set to go to trial on
three charges stemming from
an investigation by the Arkansas
State Police.
Jackson was in court on Monday, but his attorney was not
present. Judge Ham Singleton
said to Prosecutor Ian Vickery
that “a no show is the equivalent
of a no plea” and the case will
now go to trial.
Gene McKissic of Pine Bluff
is Jackson’s lawyer. Singleton asked Jackson where his
attorney was, Jackson replied “I
have no idea.”
Singleton told Jackson to
“make sure your lawyer is present,” on Wednesday, January
15 for trial.
Charges
Jackson was fired after he
chose not to resign after a state
police investigation.
Vickery had given Jackson
the option to resign or be
prosecuted. He chose not to
