Making good on promises
City council agrees to raises promised by former mayor
Hampton City Council members were
asked to make good on a promise former
Mayor Phillip Swofford made to three
employees.
Swofford had promised Justin Schinz,
Odie Strong and Corey Thomas “$1
raises per licenses” if they attended
classes and passed the tests making
them certified for their work with the water
& sewer department.
Mayor Rick Shirron brought the matter
before the council Monday night at the
city’s monthly meeting. Shirron was in
support of the raises and believes the
workers are doing a good job, he said.
Schinz has earned five of the licenses,
as well as taken over the paper work
that former interim water superintendent
