Star’s $600K gift
SSO Media gave almost $600,000 to the
community last financial year, it was
announced at the company’s annual
generalmeetinglastweek.
Gay&LesbianCommunityPublishing
Ltd (GLCP), which trades as SSO
Media and publishes the Southern Star
Observer and Sydney Star Observer, also
announced a record profit of $82,284 for
the year, following the $155,000 loss the
previousfinancialyear.
GLCP chairman Daniel Bone said the
resultwasafantasticturnaround.
“We’ve gone from the largest ever loss
in the year we started Southern Star and
the global financial crisis hit, to the best
profitthepaperhasevermadeandit’san
extraordinaryresult,”Bonesaid.
“It’s a great credit to the whole team
who produce the paper each week,
particularly publisher Scott (Abrahams),
whohasleadalotoftheinitiatives.
”
