The efforts of our local governments, the Chamber of Commerce and others are starting to payoff. Over the past several months we have been greeted with news or new or expanding business in our county. In the long run this will bring more jobs and new housing starts for us. Our friends at the East Metro Board of Realtors are saying we have a housing shortage and that prices are rising. O. Box 2055 Covington, GA 30015 770-786-3333 I hope this Spring finds all our members in good spirits and a more positive outlook for our industry in Newton county. Don’t know how your business is doing but I have at least had an increased interest in building. We are still faced with a big hurdle in getting projects financed as appraisals are still very low. I’m very concerned that a fix for this problem is a long way off. I know that the State Association is trying to work this problem and so is your local NCHBA. We have talked to some banks and they too are aware that thinking out of the box will be required if we are to jumpstart residential building here in Newton. Rumor

Seems like things are picking up a bit as more calls come in and more quotes are going out the door. Still a long long way to go but the upward turn has started and we are feeling better than we have in the past few years. Our Realtor friends are saying that the housing supply is short in Newton county and the surrounding areas. At the Annual State Home Builders Meeting, only fourteen awards were presented to local Association.
